I'm going to be in Connecticut in mid-October and am wondering about extending my trip a bit for some fall color and landscape opportunities up into Vermont, New Hampshire, Mass etc.
What will the color be like during mid-October?
Suggestions for good locations for shooting?
Thanks.

The prolonged drought throughout much of N.E. will likely result in a shortened color foliage season. The current consensus is that Northern N.E. will offer the best possibilities. I've often found that Vermont has great color, even when the other states are just...blah. And Vermont is criss-crossed with a spider web of dirt roads, all well maintained. These sites are pretty useful:

It'll be touch and go this year; good luck!
