Selectively coloured: too gimmicky? Other thoughts?

It just makes it inside my gimmicky-tolerance zone (I have done a couple of similar things).
I would like to see you get rid of the halo around the colored iron gizmo. It probably results from imperfect masking (which is the only kind I do.)
It has charm.

I like it. I might reduce the gimmicky factor by simply decreasing and slightly increasing the saturation in the appropriate places.

Thanks, Eric. The halo actually results from the weathering, so for once it's not my fault. Here's the original.

The second image is more to my liking, but both are interesting.

Obviously you should have retouched the door before photographing it. All it would take is a small water-colour brush and seventeen bottles of paint in shades "Old Weathered Door #1" through "Old Weathered Door #17." Three hours should do a good enough job.
After all, the only thing worse than a Cat here on the Luminously Angelic Landscape Forum is a Halo! 8)
You are forgiven.

You really need sidelight to do a door justice, Jeremy.

That's IT! I was wondering what was wrong with that image. It needs a cat! Preferably orange. Backlit, right there in the sunbeam.

And someone to hold off the irate denizens of St Emilion, of course.

Thank you ;)

The colors and textures are lovely, but that leaning question mark contraption annoys me like hell in both versions :)

True, Russ. I've tried before: http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=37307.msg307124#msg307124 (shutter, not door, but the principle is the same).
