It's the first one that works best for me: the scale of the figure in the landscape creates a feeling of stillness... and I think it's a theme where you want the figure to be oblivious to the photographer (photo 1), or really not to care about him (photo 3!).

Maybe you could play with some alternative framings, ie to put the water buffalo off to the side of the frame so he (?) can look across an empty field... ? Just a not-very-original thought :)

GrahamBy - I have a few other compositions of that scene. But in a photo essay, I chose the one for display that best fits the theme.
