I've done a few versions of this (shot both horizontal and vertical versions) but wasn't overly happy with it
Left it for a month or two, and came back to it. I think it is now getting closer to where I want it.
Unless I bring out the whites a bit brighter perhaps?
Interested to hear your thoughts.

Very nice image. I think that "haunted trees" is a perfect title. I liked your previous "trees" photos but this one is my favorite.

I wouldn't change a thing. This one works.

Great photo. Really draws me in to the detail. The only thing I would change (were it my image to change) would be to clone out the bright "stick" rising from the foreground ferns, but that's really nitpicking.
A print of this would be lovely.

I think that is a new frond about to leaf out and I didn't notice it until after reading you comment. If it were my image, I believe I would leave it there. Certainly the composition and processing are excellent and works either with it in or if it were cloned out.

Lovely b&w tonality & a very nice composition.

Thanks all for your feedback and kind comments. Yes, the stick is a new frond making an appearance.
Was wondering about toning down the dark tree on the left a little to push it into the background a little more.
Definitely will print this one as big as I dare. I've gone up to 20"x30" canvas with this little m4/3 camera so far with good results.

First, my compliments.
Second a little creatitive burning be useful. Work on it a bit to what works for you; your work here seems to be in a groove.
Third, as a fellow m4/3s user what body did you convert? And who did the work.
Best regards,
Don Bryant

Thank you Don.
It is an EPM1 with a 750nm filter. I bought an already converted body off Evilbay. Didn't go full spectrum as I really wanted it for black and white rather than the usual false colour.
I can't go back far enough in my eBay history to find the seller, but should have some emails somewhere as it arrived with a cracked screen.

Thanks for the info. No need to grouse for old e-mails though.
As an old fan of HIE B&W film I have no interest in FS conversons.
One final question, what lens or lenses do you prefer to avoid 'hot spotting' ?
Thanks,
Don Bryant

Don,
I primarily use the Oly 9-18mm/4-5.6 as I seem to end up shooting wide most of the time.
No hot spot problems that I've noticed, but the lens does flare a lot- like many wide lenses I guess - definitely need the hood.
I have an old Nikkor 43-86/3.5 (second version) seems to work well with IR. Cost me less than $50
Not a focal length range I use a lot though.

I also have a Minolta RokkorX 50/1.4 which is a sweet lens on the m4/3 bodies.
I haven't used it much on the IR body, but noticed no hot spots when I did have a play.
Can't find any IR sample shots handy to me now, but I took this on my old EPL1.
Has very nice smooth out of focus areas.
