Title: Canon 17-85IS v Sigma 17-70
Post by: Jeremy Roussak on May 29, 2006, 10:01:20 am
Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of this (newish) Sigma lens? It's f2.8-4.5, which makes it rather faster than the Canon. Of course it doesn't have IS, but it is two-thirds of the price.

I have a 20D and my old Canon 28-80 (which I used on my 50E) just isn't wide enough, so I need to change. I'd like something that covers the range from decent wide angle to the bottom end of my Canon 75-300, so the 17-40L wouldn't be ideal (nor would the Tamron 17-50 f2.8, really).

All suggestions gratefully received!
