Title: Bluebells
Post by: KMRennie on May 18, 2016, 02:36:44 pm
It's bluebell season in Cumbria. 3 different types of shot. All comments welcome.

I like them all, but I'm especially drawn to 1 and 3.  Three is excellent.

They're all good, but no.3 is really nice.

They look great. I like the composition and the clouds in #2 but the light is just so-so.
All three are very nice.

The subjects and compostion in 1 and 3 are great...framing/cropping in 3 unexpected and powerful. Not sure about vignetting(?) on this? Mabe pull that back a bit. I don't think 2 is a successful image because the tree and ground subjects are both so "chattery" if you will...they cancel each other out. /B

I agree about 1 & 3, especially number 3 and the inclusion of the person. Number 2 looks a little over sharpened or too much clarity.

#3 is quite attractive. First impression is that it is tilted to the right, until one notices the person.

Thanks everyone. Shot #1 is just an exercise in negative clarity to soften the already soft shot of the bluebells waving in the breeze. I must have looked daft lying on the ground with camera on tripod, 70-200 lens, close up lens on front taking shots of bluebells a few cm in front of me, luckily it hadn't rained for over a week so the ground was dry.
Brandt you are probably correct about the vignetting on #3 it will need to be backed off a lot when I print it. For some reason I had applied 10 points of clarity to #2, this one has some negative clarity applied to the foreground. I just like the shape of the tree and the blossom on it but trying to shoot it without crushing the bluebells was difficult. Unfortunately I get seduced by contrast and detail all over and need to stop doing it everytime.

They are all pretty good imho.

For the 3rd, vignetting is only annoying above and mainly on the left.

Have a Nice Day.

I like them all as well, but #1 for me, excellent color, light, bokeh :)
