Title: C'mon Epson
Post by: pearlstreet on May 06, 2016, 01:22:33 pm
Why do your new papers come in 17x22 inch and not 17x25??? I don't understand why you don't accommodate digital camera ratios.

One could ask, why do print paper sizes have to accommodate camera ratio's..... ;)

The real question that needs to be addressed is why are photographic printer companies releasing printers for PHOTOGRAPHERS in graphic sizes.  I have been after these companies to make printers in and for the photographers.  They need to be made for photographers and the portfolio sizes.  Ash yourself why are they making for graphics industry when they don't really care what they are printing.  Its our industry that needs traditional formats.  I have been after them since we made the first papers and first pigment prints.  They need to make a 24 inch sheet carrier with roll feeder.  Its been only 22 years.  Tim

I agree totally, Tim.

Andrew, it just makes sense. You can print a 16x20 on 17x25 inch paper but you can't print a 16x24 on 17x22 inch paper.

I do sympathize…and agree. OTOH—selfishly speaking—17x22" is lovely for making 15x20" prints, and 4:3 is my main photographing, printing & iPad presentation aspect ratio these days. (With 16:9 coming in 2nd.)

So weird to make new paper and surfaces with the old length. Oh well, I'll stick to what I use now. I just got a new p800 and was excited about the new papers but not anymore. :-)

Yep, a great ratio for most of my m4/3 work - 15x20 with 1" borders all round. But with the iPF5100 no cut sheets except for letter and 13x19, with my proofing and presentation papers on 17" rolls.

P800 + roll attachment = any length you desire.

Exactly (or any printer that takes a roll). You want something larger than 17" x 22", what else can you do?

Well...I'll keep using papers like Harman by Hahnemuhle. It's 17x25.

While not optimal, I cut larger sheets from a 17 inch roll for my 3880.
