Title: 6s as viewfinder for 645Z ?
Post by: zobeleye on April 17, 2016, 01:45:36 pm
Guys,
I am getting a bit frustrated with the screen of the 645Z, so I am trying to shed some light onto the question if the Iphone can be used to monitor the live view signal from the Z.
maybe through the HDMI out, but therefore the Lightning→digitalAV adapter would have to work with that. and how would I pick up the signal in the iphone ???
or maybe USB3 to Lightning ?
any ideas

cheers
Z

Perhaps if you could be more specific. What exactly is your frustration with the display? I own the 645D and 645Z and have not had any issues with either screen. Perhaps if you can explain we can provide a little input.

Cheers

I think the Z can support the Pentax-specific FluCard if you want to use your phone for wireless tethering.
I have one that I got for my K-3 and while it technically works, performance is underwhelming. It does work reasonably well for live view via another device.

I'll sell you my card cheap if you want to try it! :D

Well, the screen-resolution in liveview is not as fine as on my D810, and I'd like to be able to focus without the help of the focus-peaking. it is good when reviewing pics, but just not zoomed in before capture.
the D800 had the same problem, but they fixed it with the D810. something to do with the readout of the livefeed from what I remember.
so I'll look into ext. monitors, if the thing with the iphone does not work.
thanks anyway
cheers
