It looked as though a little snow would fall so I went up to Skye camping and taking photographs. Snow came and went 12 hours before I arrived, it was too cold to camp comfortably though. Went to the fairy pools as the weather was supposed to be overcast, so perfect for falls and water. Unfortunately it was much brighter than predicted but it was pleasant just being there. This is the first shot processed, hope you like it. As always all comments welcome.

+1 on the drama and overall magnificence of your image. While I enjoy hiking and camping, I'm not sure that I'd want to spend a night in that landscape at this time of year.

In response to drmike and I hope that it is not too boring. Nikon D810, Tamron 24-70 @26mm, f8, 3 secs, Hoya ND100 filter +polarizer. In lightroom default scenic sharpening, WB as shot / auto WB in camaera, lens corrections applied plus a tiny vignette. All sliders untouched apart from HSL saturation +35 yellow +46 orange luminance -2 Orange +43 yellow. The scene was in complete shade and very flat. I wanted to lift it to make it look as though a bit of watery sunshine had lit the scene. Altering the WB would probably have done much the same. I then applied a radial filter to the centre of the image, see attachment for settings and then applied my sky graduated filter see other attachment for settings. I opened this as a smart object in ps masked the 2 figures out, one was very blurred or I may have kept them in, into Viveza slight S applied to increase contrast plus 18% structure this lifts the entire image. So the image does not show what was really there but so what my only regret was removing the 2 figures as it means that I can not enter it into the landscape photographer of the year competition not that it would get anywhere. All in all I took 83 images in approx 2 hours on a tiny stretch of river probably no longer than 500metres. Unfortunately, for me, their were hundreds of people enjoying the place including a bunch of teenagers jumping into the river and sunbathing on the rocks which meant that many falls couldn't be shot but the countryside is for everyone. Stangely for such a well photographed spot I saw only one other tripod.

Enter it into the 'Your view' section of LPOTY :) your editing out of the people is allowed in that category. As for it not getting anywhere, I was shortlisted twice in last years and I'll happily say neither image was as good as this one 😀

Thanks Ken that was very interesting. I am often curious to know just how much work people put into their PP as I am rather lazy. But seeing this result and knowing how it was achieved may inspire me to greater efforts.
I gave up on LR as I found I always ended up having to use PS but maybe I'll review that decision as well.

Some of the rest of the images taken. The first 2 from Sligachan, sunset and predawn, midge free for once. The mono from Elgol after a fruitless but pleasant 4 hours the clouds swept in. Lastly Neist point taken from half way down the cliff not from the usual top of the cliff position. The clouds had covered the western sky with a tiny break at the horizon. I waited for an hour and a half and was rewarded with a bright red sun peeking out for a few minutes just before sinking into the sea, the sky above the point was a bit bland but you seldom get everything. I hope you like them.

Very nice additions! I especially like #1. Were you on another bridge for this perspective? #3 is very good too. I always enjoy some rays as a photo element.

Sorry for forgetting to thank everyone for the very encouraging comments posted. I am never sure about the correct procedure whether to thank everyone individually or globally but they do encourage me to take more photographs and post them.

Once again, superb. You've inspired me to consider again a trip to Skye. I referred in my earlier post to the extraordinary Scientist/climber Norman J. Collie, who climbed extensively in the Canadian Rockies and pioneered in the Cuillin.

I love the third and fourth of the most recent batch. I would clone out the telegraph poles in the last one, though.

As for the protocol for thanking commenters, I think the acceptable forms range from a brief "Thanks, folks" to a lengthy essay beginning "I'd first like to thank my parents, without whose efforts I never would have been here to catch these shots..." ;)
And it's probably best to avoid "A pox on all who suggested I make picky little so-called 'improvements.'" ::)

I like very much the first, perfect focal length.

After two pages of kudos, time for a dissenting view? I find the OP image processed beyond believability, i.e., the clouds too dark and the foreground too light. The source of light is obviously behind the clouds, so not possible to have God's rays illuminating the foreground either. The image itself, before the manipulation, lends itself to a much better interpretation into a dark and moody scene overall.
