Title: Canyon bubbles
Post by: MattBurt on April 15, 2016, 11:07:06 am
I'm a fan of swirling bubbles and found some good ones last night. Shooting into the sun in this shadowy canyon killed a lot of the color so I decided B&W was the way to go to emphasize form and texture. I did the conversion with Lightroom and Nik Silver Efex Pro.

Very interesting, Matt. I'm totally with you about swirls in pools and streams. On a side note, do you see a big difference between the image here (in Lula) v. the one on flickr? Seems to my eye that this one has a lot more clarity and contrast. I think I prefer the one on flickr with its more subdued clarity, but that's just a personal preference.

Thanks Bob. Interesting observation. I wonder if it's just the background affecting how the image looks because it is the same image hosted on Flicker that is in this thread.

Fine shot, Matt -- here or on flickr.

I like it too, Matt. I'm a big fan of swirls, and the bubble type came out really well here.

Thanks!
I brushed in a little extra clarity, contrast, and brighter highlights for the close swirls to bring them out a little more.

That's nice, but what makes this shot and any shot good is framing and composition. The rest is grunt work.
