Title: dawn light
Post by: Jeremy Roussak on April 04, 2016, 02:45:58 pm
I don't know what this mountain is called: I'm looking across the inlet with Kirkjufell to my left. Rajan?

Comments?

Did you take the shot from someplace along the road (see attached) further down to the bottom left?

No, I wasn't on the road. As far as I remember* I'd walked up past Kirkjufellsfoss and across the bridge above it, and this shot was taken looking past the mountain (which lies to the left of the shot) and across the inlet.

*note to self: keep better records!

See attached screen grab of the Kirkjufell area with Þrídjifoss and nearby mountains. You can explore it further at this link - https://www.map.is/landsnet/

Are you looking east towards Bjarnarhafnarfjall? Nice one in any event.

Thanks for the map, Rajan!

Looking at this map, I think I was probably more or less where the blue marker is due south of Kirkjufell, looking east across Grundarfjörður at the gap between the two mountains on the next promontory, with the light on the third, the next promontory across Kolgrafarfjöður.

The light really was quite special that morning.
