Title: North Iceland images part I
Post by: the_marshall_101 on March 20, 2016, 04:37:37 pm
Godafoss, north Iceland

Shortly before my lens froze over (it was -10 degC) and I had to pack it in!

More photos from the trip here if anyone's interested (will post more later in the week anyway): www.theimageproject.xyz/blog/iceland-2016

Sounds cold, and dangerous for your gear!  :o Nice shooting.

Lovely. The blue toning emphasises the cold.

Looking forward to more images if they are as good as the above posted one. :)

A wonderful shot. I Feel cold looking at it which signifies success on many levels.

I must also add, the Aurora shot on your blog page is, in my opinion, one of the best I've ever seen. It's minimalism and contrast against the sky sets it apart from the usual (But still amazing) big green ribbon shots.

Brrr.... it looks glacial. Excellent composition and use of long exposure. I also like the other photos posted on your web site. Taken one by one or as a set, it's a very good body of work.

Great shot. The falling ice reminds me of the hairdo of the aliens in Predator...

Thanks - that was my aim.  Seemed better than either B&W or just desaturating the natural colour slightly.

Thanks very much.  It was quite eerie, featureless light (and of course physically very cold) so I'm glad that translates.

Will post the aurora one later - again, thanks.  I had other quite full-on ones but that one really caught my eye when reviewing them.

Thanks Francois.  In actual fact the exposure was only 1/6 sec - tried some longer ones, naturally, but they blurred things too much and the mist at the foot of the falls becomes overpowering.  Could almost have hand held it (I didn't!).

Cheers

Thanks!!  I love the icicles - just glad I could incorporate them into something good!

Thanks! Not the most dangerous bit for my gear out of the whole trip but it will make me think of a strategy for ice if I come across it again, because I had no Plan B!

Love it!
I bet it was the spray that froze the gear as I've shot in much colder temps without issue but there wouldn't have been that mist.
