Hi,
Jim Kasson has an interesting series of comparisons on short telephoto lenses (around 85 mm) on the A7rII here: http://blog.kasson.com/?p=13065
As usual, the info coming from Jim is pretty good. Based on this I would have bought the Batis 85/1.9. The lens I have is the Sony Alpha 90/2.8G Macro, and it is the weakest one in Jim's test, but still a very decent one.
Best regards
Erik

I see nothing about the Batis in the link you provided??? It's just an Otus vs Nikkor comparison, what am I missing? :)

Hi,
Thanks for asking :-)
It is a series of tests. The Batis is f/1.9 and the first article is about f/1.4. So you need to look for the next instalment: http://blog.kasson.com/?p=13083
Best regards
Erik

I have yet to read a thorough test of the 85mm Batis—though I will now check out Jim's—but based on my own use of the lens I can confirm it's a fine performer indeed. Same goes for the 25mm. If Zeiss does the right thing (according to me, that is!) and makes a 45mm Batis to complete a near-perfect trio, I'll continue with the Sony A7x system. If not, dunno…
