Title: A somewhat naive question about tethered shooting
Post by: Ellis Vener on February 07, 2016, 10:33:29 pm
It has been awhile since I used hard wired tethering, but is there now a tethering solution for Macs that doesn't require a DSLR (specifically Canon 5DS) camera to be in live view mode. The computer is a 27" Retina iMac. I want the speed of viewfinder shooting for portrait work.

I don't know specifically about the 5DS but AFAIK there always has been. DPP + EOS Utilities I have used with a 5D2 and others. I expect Aperture, Lightroom, Capture One do it also.

Please disregard this question as I found the answer I was seeking: Yes it is possible to not use live view with a DSLR when shooting tethered, at least when using Capture One Pro 9.
