Title: How to store text comments in or with photo in Lightroom 6.x
Post by: AlfSollund on February 03, 2016, 12:17:18 pm
Hi,

I want to store a short textfile with information related to photo(s) in Lightroom. Anyone with some suggestions? There is a comment field at bottom below Metadata , but it says "Comments not supported here".

All proposals welcome  :)

How big a "short text file"?

There's the "Caption" field.  I just put over 4,000 characters in it, and it stored them OK.  I don't know how many characters it will store - I didn't try more than 4,000 (well, I tried 4,386 to be exact - I just tried adding the same string until I got bored.  I have a low boredom threshold.)

Yes, either the Caption field or BigNote

Note that Adobe has called the same field both the Caption and the Description. In either case it's the standard location for, well, caption information. It follows the file when you export it as a jpeg, which is also nice.
