Title: IPF8400s + IPF8300s - using ink that is not original
Post by: etkinadav on January 31, 2016, 12:20:38 pm
Hello,

I have IPF8300s printer (canon), and there is a problem with the black ink (the issue is mainly performed by nozzle test) Replacing the ink cartridge did not help.
Recently (to save money) we started using ink purchased through ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200787122497?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

so I'm considering upgrading it to IPF8400s....

My questions:
1) Could the unoriginal ink (in the link) damage the printer (IPF8300s)?
2) If it did, is there eny ink that is more safe fore the new one (IPF8400s)?
3) Is the type of ink i bought (in the link) is also compatible with the new one (IPF8400s)?

Thank you very much,

Nadav

Some people may not have issues with refill systems (3rd party ink) and others do.  If you use a 3rd party ink and it damages the printer, the manufacturer (Canon) won't fix it since it wasn't their genuine ink (basically voids the warranty).  So, it's really the users choice of trying this.

We recommend to stick with genuine ink for safety.  The iPF8300 ink should be fine in the iPF8400, but not vice versa.  It's best to contact Canon's Hotline to verify this information.

Hope this helps.

It's been about a month since I have put inks from inkjetcarts in my ipf6400. So far, so good though, I think it is too early to evaluate their inks.

Is it worth it? I know that at the time of buying the ink, it's serious lump of cash, but... on a per print basis, on my little pro-100 where the genuine ink costs at least twice as much, the ink cost is roughly equal to the cost of a good quality RC paper, and much less than anything fancy. So, how much do you save, per print?

We used Inketcarts ink for years in our iPF 6100. No new profiles needed, no shortened head life and the cost saving over factory ink equaled our expenditure on the occasional new printhead.

The Canon eventually stripped all its roll-feed gears and was thrown out. Now using HP machine.
