Title: Orchids
Post by: shadowblade on January 25, 2016, 09:18:16 am
Some macro work with the A7r and Canon 100L. Orchids in Singapore's botanic gardens.

f/16 and 0.4s at ISO 50. This one lost a lot of its blue-green hues in conversion to sRGB.

Uncommon framing but the result is fine.

'Unoommon'? Does it work? I thought it would give a more interesting image than the usual flower-in-the-middle composition.

I find orchids very difficult to photograph close up.  I like your shot very much and hope to remember this sort of framing the next time I tackle such a flower.  Well done!

I second that!

Uncommon was meant in a positive way.

I like the framing and even more like the face. It's what I detected first, before I even saw the flower. Those two red eyes in their huge sockets, the honker between them, and that big, wide mouth underneath. It's hilarious! Excellent work!
