Title: Software to create calendar to be printed by printing house
Post by: marimagen on January 24, 2016, 02:52:55 pm
I have been approached to create next year's calendar for a customer. What would be the most appropriate tool knowing that I will not be able to do the printing myself. I would use PS to prepare the pict files, but then, what software should I use to create the calendar layout? Thanks in advance for your help, Marie

If using photoshop take a look at

there are some options, and if you know a bit of scripting you may be able to adapt it to what you want. You can add notable dates in a separate text file.

I printed a few myself last year. I tend to create the calendar and then add the images with Qimage (windows only) but this is only for my convenience.

Adobe InDesign is the best software for laying out your calendar.

I print up 20-25 calendars a year for friends and family . I use Microsoft Word for the calendar page (after doing it for a while you find that years repeat themselves so you just have to change the year) I print on Staples 81/2x11 double sided matt (it is heavier , brighter and cheaper than Epson) with calendar on one side the photo on the other side then I bind them using 3/8 inch binding combs.
I use third party ink as I find that I only get 1 1/2 calendars per set of Epson ink cartridges. I have been doing this for over 10 years and have not been bothered with fading.
If your not doing the printing yourself because of volume this post is probably not helpful.

Thanks Pierre for your input. It sounds like a good solution for small runs.
