Hi,
I don't know which kind of video player you use for the William Neill viedos but the video is virtually unwatchable. The player only buffers when the stream is paused, and even when the content seems to be buffered completely, the video stops playing for a moment every couple of seconds just to resume doing the same thing over again. I do not know wether I am the only one experiencing this issue, but it makes watching the video a real pain.
The other videos from the video library work perfectly. I would really appreciate to have the new video available via the library with the standard player!
Thanks,
Holger Broschek

This could indicate a problem with AmazonS3 not having 'populated' the video world-wide yet.
Where are you located?
-
Same here! I'm in South Africa.
Tried three times.
-
Hmmm. Apologies for this. My guess is that in future we will need to give the Amazon S3 system 48 hours or so to get a new file to their servers around the world. Please let us know if the problem persists beyond Sunday, December 20.

I doubt that... Unless you first uploaded Part 2, and then, several hours later, Part 1. Because I had huge problems with the latter (not only video, but also audio was breaking all the time), but the former (Part 2) worked just fine.
That was some 12h ago, IIRC. Right now both work fine.
Where are you located?
Moscow, Russia.

It seems that some locations in countries that are a distance from US may have a problem. We think we know how to fix it and will be looking at a solution over the next few days.
-
Here in El Portal, CA, I had problems with the video and audio not being in sync. Still, I enjoyed the interview and the examples of Bill's work. I am reminded to just get out and spend some time with the landscape. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi there, is it possible to download these 2 William Neill so as I can watch them off line. Thank you.
-
Hello,
part one was ok for me, but part two refuses to start at all. There is a circle turning around all the time, but the video doesn't start. My internet connection is pretty fast ( 50MBit download ), and other videos I.e. provided by YouTube are ok in complete.
I'm located in Germany.

Robert, thanks for letting us know. Our guys are working on the fix and it is a distance from main server thing. Solution will be to distribute out to different servers around the world and that is what is going to be done. We'll get fixed ASAP.
-
Kevin, thanks for the fast answer ! But, what I do not understand, all other videos provided by Lula included part one of the William Nell video are also that far away from Germany, but run without any issues.
But, if you are working on this issue, I'm sure that a solution will be available soon.

Now the videos both run without any problems, but the quality is that bad that you barely cannot watch them. I cannot find any key to change at least to full HD.
Am I doing any wrong or is the quality that bad at all ?

Robert you should have the problem you are seeing. I'll have Chris look into it. We thought we had this one fixed.

There have been scattered reports about difficulty playing in non-N.American locales.
This can be the case when a video is 'new' to the Amazon servers and has yet to 'populate' world-wide to their servers in different regions. We need to have the videos in place on Amazon for at least 48 hours before we publish them - perhaps 72 hours.
As far as the playback quality is concerned, we are attempting something different. Videos that are embedded in web pages, are only available in lower resolution 360P. This allows the streaming process to function well and gives acceptable quality - provided the video is not played full screen. At full screen size, there is a noticeable loss of quality compared to 720P.
For videos where the visual quality is important, we will make 720P available within the Video Store for download and streaming.
In the case of the William Neill videos, I will be posting 720P to the video store in the New Year.

No problems with video, just wanted to say I enjoyed the series and would love to see more interviews like this in the future.
-
Well, I am glad the technical problems with distribution of that video seem to be resolved.
I have a more substantive comment, assuming this is the right place: I really enjoyed it, and his calm, deliberate approach to things. "I can't believe I watched the whole thing!" since my tolerance for video is limited. (I am watching DP Review moving towards becoming just another video channel on YouTube. Good videos, but I watch their evolution with trepidation nonetheless.)
One technical thing I did notice was that Kevin, you were using your Nikon SLR gear and he was using a comparable Canon DSLR setup. I found this refreshing, since I still use my DSLR stuff and cannot afford to dump it and jump on the Great 2015 Sony Bandwagon. (I plead guilty to Gear Acquisition Syndrome, though, since I spent the budget I did have plus maybe a bit more getting into the Fuji world.) Or maybe the video was actually taken before you had moved over to Sony? Or, as is usually the case, life is just not that simple? In any case, congratulations on the product.

Same question - I'm on satellite and only have a limited "free zone" offered by the server for videos. I generally have to download them so I can watch them at a reasonable time. The free zone starts at 3 AM in my time zone which makes it difficult to watch videos when I need to be asleep.
Thanks

Just use the Download button below each video...

I really enjoyed these videos. I hope there will be more to come like this. Would I be hated if I admitted I didn't know who William was before this? I tend to know people like Joe McNally but I'll admit I don't pay close enough attention to the other names/pros out there.
Anyway, it's too bad I didn't know him because I was out there in Yosemite last summer and visited the Ansel Adams gallery of course. I would have liked to say hi if I knew about William at that time. While I was in Yosemite, there was strange weather in July. We had snow and ice pellets in the high elevations and cool weather overall. I actually enjoyed it and the weather was great for photos. Maybe William would have been out shooting the dramatic weather and I wouldn't have seen him in the gallery anyway ;-)

Thanks for watching the video.
Photo-x, glad you discovered me through LuLa! I have been contributing articles to LuLa and Outdoor Photographer for many years.
bdbender4, I am now using the Sony A7R2 with my Canon lenses, but I still have my Canon 5DM3 as a backup. The Sony is fabulous.

I would also like to add a note to say how much I enjoyed this video series. Enjoyable interesting questions and answers and excellent on location sequences. I hope there is more of this kind of video to come.
Thanks.
