Good news, I guess.

The new host appears to be a website dedicated to wedding photography (http://www.digitalweddingreview.com/) .

Hmm... wonder if their business model is to charge for the RG  forums after a brief "honeymoon" period.

Funnily, I might have paid something before the recent net fascism kicked off some of the best posters. Although it can be argued that tough policing increases quality, I would be less likely to pay for something which is less open.

There is an analogy with a UK based mailing list called Professional Imaging (PI). This was set up after people became slightly alienated with the tough policing of another mailing list at www.prodig.org, though I must admit I think prodig operate an appropriate level of content control and to my knowledge haven't banned many (if any) posters. In the case of PI, I am happy to pay a small contribution for the option of occasionally posting off topic and not getting an email from the net police. I still recognise prodig as the foremost communications channel for professional imaging pros. But I do like to "hang out" in a less precise atmosphere at times.

Perhaps the new owners of the RG forums have a bit of a branding problem, as they are still branded as the RG forums and the idea of being linked to something so specific as wedding photography would seem to  affect the whole branding.

Perhaps they will buy a new more neutral domain and move the forums there. It might be wise.

Let's see if anything has changed (sure looks, smells and tastes the same).

Why not go over, and post something along the lines of this (and see how long it takes for Mike to delete it):

"Glad to see you back on. Boy, the closings were discussed a lot over on Luminous Landscapes:

http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index....showtopic=10389 (http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10389)

Over 15,000 page views. I had no idea so many were upset..."

Will it take a few hours or longer for that one to get locked/deleted?

Looks like Asher posted something almost like this on the end of the "testing 1, 2, 3" post. So far he hasn't been kicked off.

Keep us posted if you will; thanks.

It's been almost a month since RG imploded  but for some reason this site has yet to
pick up the posting slack. There was a brief upswing a few weeks back but since that spike
the number of posts on this Medium Format format that actually deal with medium format issues,
and not RG related issues, has tanked.
It's hard to understand why when looking at all the positives here, including, for all intents
and purposes,unmoderated posting.
Some are even using these forums to launch new forums of their own. Very bizarre.
