For what? Best or even good enough is very subjective. What do you want the camera for, what kind of photographs are you hoping to take? Is it for sports, travel, landscape or something else? What options are you considering? APS, fullsize, Medium format etc. I'm not trying to put you off but your question needs some sort of frame before any answer is reasonable.

Yes, in fact hundreds.

Although as said above, a little more info might lead to a more usefull discussion.

Please define "better".
Higher image resolution? Yes: Hasselblad-Imacon H2D-39 (39MP).
Higher frame rate? Yes: 1DMkIIN and D2X (8fps)
Higher resolution of a distant or small subject with a given telephoto or macro lens?: Yes, because that comes down to sensor resolution in lp/mm, where the DSLR leaders are the D2X, E-500 and E-330.
Smaller, lighter, more portable? Yes; almost every other DSLR is "better" by that standard!

Better all round camera for you? That is entirely up to your needs, wants and priorities.
