I can't help but wonder how Michael's Namibia safari is going. Can't wait to see a segment on it show up in the video journal. I'm guessing it'll probably be in volume sixteen or later though, as I imagine Chris is going to have his work cut out for him going through and editing all the video he's probably shooting!

Hey, Gentlemen. Michael, myself and the rest of the safari group are now on our way back from Namibia. i am in Cape Town at the moment, and can tell you that the group that we led has some amazing photographs.

I hope some of them decide to post a few somewhere; can't wait to see to them! (You'll be putting a few of yours up on your website?)
Out of curiousity, how many flight hours is it from Namibia back to the US? I know from MSP to Arusha is around 18 hours, but I assume it's a little longer to Cape Town (and then to Namibia).
To the Moderator: Would you please correct my spelling of "Nambia" in the title? Don't see a way to edit it. Thanks!

The flight from Cape Town back to Amsterdam is about 11+ hours, and the flight back to my home from Amsterdam is about 9 hours. Not too bad. Two direct and easy flights. The only flights from Namibia to Europe is from Winhoek to Frankfurt. Other than that, I am not sure what else is available. Most flights from southern Africa to Europe go through Cape Town or Johannesburg, though.
I should have some images on my web site when I arrive back home on Saturday night. I will be sure to post a link when I get back!

Actually, the shot was taken from a Cessna Caravan aircraft. We were flying about 350 feet about the ocean at the time. I wore dark clothing to minimize reflections, and also used a polarizer to take out the haze and punch up the contrast. A slight crop of the water and of the sky, and voila.
Image stabilization, ISO 500 and f/6.3 helped make the image have enough DOF and a fast enough shutter speed.

I wonder if we can talk one of the airplane manufacturers into offering optional optical quality replacement windows for airplanes that will be used by photographers? Multi-coated and made with UD glass, of course.
