Title: Mac info required by competent Win user
Post by: OldRoy on December 02, 2015, 03:20:14 pm
I'm trying to remotely sort out some issues for an elderly friend who has had a Mac for a few years. I'm very unfamiliar with the details of Mac systems not having used them since before OSX.
He's using an iMac "9,1" (? about 6-7 years old) running os 10.5.8. Are these os versions locked to hardware spec or can they be updated?

EDITED:
Dug out most of the required info via Google. Which I should have done first...

This may help

Canon OS X print driver (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL899?locale=en_US)

You may have to update the OS...

Just use App Store/Software update under the Apple Menu

Thanks Chris. Yes, it needs updating to 10.6, for which there's a suitable driver (£14). Whether he can do it himself is another question.
