Title: contract to use photos for a music CD ?
Post by: Eugen-Florin on November 27, 2015, 09:58:30 pm
Hello,

I was asked recently by a musician to give him some of my photos for a new CD he is releasing (for cover and inside of CD). I will get the credit and a very small honorarium ie $250 for a cover photo and a few more images to place inside.  The recording company wants to promote the CD on social media, magazines, posters, etc and they want to use the photos for all that. They might release 1000 CDs to begin with but if the album is successful they can do a next run for 100000 CDs  r they might do so in a  few years time, and I have no way of knowing any of that.

I know the musician himself does not have a lot of money hence the very low honorarium he offered but I would appreciate any suggestion on what the contract should include and what I should know, pay attention to, etc  if I were to go ahead with it.

Thank You!
