I will be visiting Southwest Ireland for 3 days in July. My intention is to explore the Barra, Kerry and Dingle peninsulas. I would appreciate any photo guidance or experience regarding this area.
Are there any good guidebooks for photographing this area?

You might take a look at Irelandscape (http://www.irelandscape.com). You can search on County, if I am not mistaken.
Enjoy your trip!

There are some good photos with locations on that site.
Thanks, Wim!

I would recomend taking the time to go out to The Skelligs

I would also try to find one of the many stone circles, see the stones of Ireland for location information, I found some near Kenmare which is a good base point.

On your way through Co. Kerry take in Killarney and district - and Kerry weather permitting - a great place for the photographer.

Hi Kevin,
I hope you don't mind I inmediately bookmarked your page? Nice work, that makes me long to visit Ireland again...

Kevin,
We will be staying in Killarney for a couple of nights. I really enjoyed your photos and I will seek out the Black Valley and Gap of Deloe. Thanks.

Hi Steve
You will easily get directions to these places which are close by the town of Killarney. The Black Valley is just on the Southern flank of The Gap of Dunloe. Another scenic route is to take the road to Kenmare which runs along by the side of the Lakes for quite a few miles.
The mountains in Kerry intercept the warm air of the Gulf Stream so the weather is notoriously changeable. However, if you hit it right it can be a spectacular landscape to see. Much of my youth was spent fishing in The Black Valley and my best images of it are in my head. Leaden days of torrential rain transformed suddenly by a burst of sunlight through the peaks lighting the rain clouds spilling down the hills - and a fly rod instead of a camera.
Hope you have a good trip.

Sorry for the late response.
Thanks for the kind words - and certainly you should visit again at your earliest opportunity.
