I have sometimes been impressed by images of the northern lights. But all too often that initial impression devolves into the realization that the photographer merely pointed his camera to the sky. This image is so much better, a real photograph. Bravo.

Thanks. Interesting you say that. These days I don't much care to shoot northern lights unless there is something very special happening (i.e. an unusually strong display) and I am in a compelling location at that time to frame it against.
