Title: Vistaprint colour management
Post by: OnyimBob on August 08, 2015, 02:33:49 am
Hi folks, does anyone have any experience producing photobooks of coloured photographs using Vistaprint?

As far as I can make out they specify files to be supplied in CMYK, but make no provision for colour proofing at all - so it's hit or miss!

Their books are fine with most images just right but always  a few that are totally stuffed!

I've had a book of toned black & white done and it was perfect, but the colour stuff is giving me a headache!

I'd like to persevere with them because their prices are much lower than Blurb.

Advice anyone?

Bob.

Hello Bob.
As no one has replied I'll chip in. I've had some postcards done for Heritage NZ through Vistaprint in Victoria. The colours were a dead match. My screen brightness is set up for my printing (about 105 cd/m2) and I checked that the colours for the CMYK files were well within gamut using Ilford GFS as a rough profile match.
They have an 0800 helpline which may prove useful. Lack of proofing may be one reason for their lower prices.

Thanks for this David. You're probably right about the reason for the pricing.
I've been in touch with their helpline and am presently waiting to hear back.
Bob.
