Title: Best preview size for CO 8
Post by: The View on July 14, 2015, 01:32:20 pm
I just read that the best preview size of CO 8 is actually a larger pixel dimension than your monitor actually measures.

My monitor is 2560 pixels wide (Nec pa 271 w) - and the preferences pane has the preview pixel dimension set at 2560 pixels.

Should I up it to 2880 pixels? If yes, why is this necessary?

Thanks!

If you view the image on screen smaller than the preview size it can use the preview.

If you view the image on screen larger than the preview size it cannot use the preview and must look at the raw data. This is slower.

It's not common that you would view the image 100% full screen, especially if the monitor is wide aspect-ratio and the image is from a digital back with a 4:3 aspect ratio. More typically you have the tools and/or thumbnails on screen reducing the view of the actual image. So your preview size is probably fine.
