Title: Good CF card checkers?
Post by: kevs on July 14, 2015, 01:19:30 pm
Data Rescue ver 3 is now 7 years old. I liked it, and Lexars Image resucue: are these still the best 2 out there? Any other great bang for the bucks on this type of software? thanks!

Hi,

Don't know if its specifically good for certain (raw image) file formats, but Piriform's Recuva (https://www.piriform.com/recuva) (for Windows computers) seems to find a lot of files. The recovered files might require renaming from TIFF to the actual Raw format, but most Raws are a TIFF variant anyway because TIFF is flexible and allows to store all sorts of data.

The Free version is useful for trying it before buying the slightly more featured Pro version for a modest amount.
As always with these types of programs, it's best to backup the card info/partition first, and never write to the card itself but store the recovered files on another disk.

Cheers,
Bart
