But Get Fireworks and Lightning in the Same Shot...well, that takes talent or a whole lot of dumb luck.

So even when you are traveling "light," I expect you always carry at least ten pounds of Dumb Luck in your gadget bag. ;)
Very nice, carefully planned shot!

Agreed.

Yes they are easy. I usually don't shoot them anymore. I did grab one a coupe days ago for fun, but had the wrong cam for the job with me.

Well, they sure can be easy. A good intro to night sky shooting for the uninitiated too.
I find effectively working fireworks into a landscape or portrait to be a bit more of a challenge! That's been my self-assignment the past few years is just making the fireworks another element in what might still be a good shot without them. Takes it up a notch, both in difficulty and the impact of the photo.

Requires scouting your location and knowing the launch site of the fireworks. I got lucky, my worksite has a multistory parking garage with a decent view of the downtown skyline (and Arch) and fireworks shot from a river barge anchored downtown. Not this year! Even if the barge site had been accessible, the river is well above flood stage (unsafe for barge) - fortunately the display was elsewhere this year.
