Title: Monitor recommendations?
Post by: dhdhdh on July 02, 2015, 11:52:40 am
Using a mac tower and and older Apple matte screen 23" (i think) "Cinema Display."
Any recommendations for something newer that doesn't cost a fortune?

So hard to find reliable info on this topic. Thank you!

Depends on what you mean by a fortune, I guess.  My thinking is that the NEC PA2x2 series monitors are about the sweet spot for price/performance.

Under $1000, maybe less?
I will look into these, thank you.

For "just over" your 1k$ you could have 24" w/ their profiling software & device.

Take new NEC EA275UHD with SpectraViewII software and i1Display Pro. At 800$ it's a bargain!

I just purchased a NEC PA272w for $999 (with free shipping within the United States) from B&H in New York.  At the time that I'm writing this, the B&H website says they have a "limited supply at this price."  Excellent monitor.  This is my second NEC wide-gamut monitor and I'm very pleased with it.

And at that price, you do not get NEC's SpectraView software or color calibration sensor, which I strongly recommend because they make calibration essentially effortless.  (I already had them from the earlier NEC purchase.)

Thanks very much! I'm clicking over to B&H right now.
