Hi thanks for sharing, but it's slow  (700MB/s) so the price is not that good. In the other hand slow is a relative term.
We have a replacement coming, it is still 1TB but is very fast.

Nowadays the Macbook pro has a faster SSD than the mac pro.

It is indeed a bit slower, but 700 MB/s is still very fast.

Can the alternatives you mention be purchased off the shelf?

Sorry for the delay, not yet, I found that the price is too high.
So I agree that if someone needs the  2TB option right now is the only way to go, and it will remain that way for a significant amount of time. But if the  1TB option will do I will wait.
