I'm sort of in between printers at the moment, so I'm a bit curious about using a commercial printing service. I also don't print enough to justify a printer more than 13" wide. I work in NYC, so Manhattan print shops would be convenient.
I did a few prints from Adorama, and they're... ehh. Affordable, fast, profiles work OK, but the prints look soft. Whacking out the sharpening didn't help. I'm not thrilled by the paper options.
I took a look at Whitewall, but I'm not familiar with the papers, and they don't have profiles for the B&W papers.
Any recommendations?

if you want true B&W paper
you can go for digital silver imaging.
they are located in boston.
but you can do online print and they are professional in true B&W prints
and the price is very good as well.
if you are looking for a local pro lab which provide this service,
griffin edition is a good choice as well
