Title: LR 6 slowing down when PC is connected through slow Internet connection
Post by: AlfSollund on June 07, 2015, 08:29:52 am
A minor issue, but quite irritating. My Standalone LR 6 is slowing down to a crawl, and stops totally sometimes when my PC is connected to a bad Internet connection. If I disable the connection LR resumes to normal. So from this I assume that LR is doing something over Internet. I have not, and do NOT want any Mobile something.  Is it just the normal N S A  surveilance or should I be worried?

Any clues?

It MAY be checking for updates.  If you go to Edit > Preferences > General you can uncheck "Show Splash Screen" and "Automatically Check for Updates", which should at least speed up your start up.  I'm not sure how an internet connection would affect performance other than that on the standalone version.

This might be Adobe recording what you're doing with LR in real time... there is a post somewhere about how the usage data received from PS via the Internet told Adobe that some features (like crop) are used much more than they ever imagined. So its not NSA surveillance but rather Adobe surveillance.
