Title: Capture One Pro 8.3 Released!
Post by: David Grover / Capture One on June 02, 2015, 08:46:09 am
As well as brand new Phase One XF camera release today (http://www.phaseone.com), lets have some new software too!

Naturally this supports the equally new IQ3 digital backs but also adds some important features for all other Capture One customers.

The most important of these is the new Camera Settings tool.  The XF system inspired us to integrate better between back / body and Capture One.  So the new tool enables you to configure many of the settings of not only the new Phase One XF but other models from Canon, Nikon, Sony and more. So, as opposed to digging through the menus of your camera, simply search for the term in the Camera Settings tool and adjust from there.

See the attached image.  Its shown with an XF but depending on the camera model you will see similar options.

Hi David, any more details about the new high performance tethering engine on Mac?

Does this finally mean its independent and not reliant on my Mac capture protocol and I won't have to keep the Mac Image Capture app open all the time and setting my camera power to never sleep for stable tethering (Canon)?

Hi Gaz,

It should certainly be more stable.

Windows version as definitely more stable than 8.2.2.
But in both my PCs i've discovered that 8.3 cannot see RATINGS (in sessions mode, colour labels is OK).
It (dis)appears both when i open already edited Session folder or try to import from flash-card with ratings set in FastRawViewer and stored in XMP sidecar files.

Seems there's a bug introduced with Version 8.3:
When C1 is launched another program openes simultaneously that is called "CaptureCoreService.xpc". Upon closing this, C1 is slowed down drastically.
(Mac OS 10.9.5)

I must say that the tethering in OSX is much improved.  No restarts required when disconnecting a Canon camera.  Thanks P1!
