Title: Full HD or 4K TV?
Post by: Dave555 on May 23, 2015, 01:12:06 am
My local area is still broadcasting using analogue with minimum HD content.  I contemplating of purchasing either a 48”-50” smart TV to replace my old 8 yr old TV.  I’m in 2 minds between purchasing a Full HD TV (1920 res) or a 4K (3840 res).

Putting money aside, here’s my 2 questions:

1)   Which type of TV will give me better image quality when analogue is broadcast.
2)   When FHD content is broadcast, will FHD or 4k Tv made a difference? My viewing distance is abt 8’. I have read article that in fact to get any benefit of a 4k details, one have to sit nearer than 8’. I like to hear from people with live experience.

I do not wish to fall into a trap of future proofing by simply purchasing the best quality (which is 4k) as I understand from hearing (I maybe wrong) that if the content is broadcast in FHD (which is only 1920 res), the image will be stretched to fill the 3840 frame, hence its even more pixelated as compare to the FHD TV. Won’t it better in this case to view in FHD TV? Or no diff?

I know one way is to compare both TV of the same size side by side to view an analogue broadcast. Unfortunately shops don’t broadcast analogue content.

Your input appreciated.
