Looking for a way to print longer than the normal 37.5" maximum length with an Epson 3880. Will Qimage allow for longer prints or is there some other inexpensive RIP that will permit longer length prints? I'm looking to go as long as 42" max.
I'm on a MacBook Pro 2.8 GHz Intel Core I7 running Mavericks OS.

Qimage is not a RIP, it cannot get around the 3880's length limit. PrintFab is currently in free beta, at least for Windows, the Mac version is between €50-140, depending on the exact version.
Most RIPs are priced by width, so RIP for a 17" printer shouldn't be more than half the cost of the printer. Mirage 17" is about €300. Does 4.5 inches make that much difference to you?

Qimage is not a RIP, it cannot get around the 3880's length limit.
QImage is indeed not a RIP but it does claim to be able to get round the length limit, I think by splitting the image into segments. I've not tried it myself, though.

Only if the printer driver has a banner mode and it does it more by seamless stitching of the images on the paper roll, not by splitting them. I wonder whether the P800 has a banner mode, the 3800/3880 did not.

if you dont want 17" wide capability (even if you are printing on a 3880) for the pano, you can use the lower-cost version of PrintFab (which I think is limited to 15" wide). That's perfect if you want something like 13"x ... or so
or unless you have a bunch to do, just have a good lab do them

MiragePrint? I think it allows printing longer panos on a 3880.

I need 17" as 1/2" is lost due to trimmed borders so I end up with 16.5" width. And as far as length I can only print on 36.5 as 1/2" is lost top and bottom.
And yes, 5" will make a difference to me. And I need something that works on a 3880 and not a P800 as a 3880 is what I have to work with.

You can put larger paper in it, so it will close to 37" print length. I read somewhere that imageprint can print longer...

I have used Mirage Print for a while now.
It overcame all the wrong size print problems and allows at least 2m prints.

I can't see a "Print" dialogue for Printfab. How exactly do you print from it? Thanks.
