Took this photograph on a recent backpacking trip to the Grand Staircase. Hiked down Coyote Gulch to Stevens Canyon.

nice

Love those tones and textures!

Nice capture! FWIW, Coyote Gulch is in Glen Canyon Nat'l Rec. Area although the early part of the hikes in via Redwell or Hurricane trailheads start in Grand Staircase Escalante NM.

Nice tones and rock textures

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Cwood, we started the hike from the "Water Tank trailhead" off the hole in the rock road (same road as the Crack trailhead). This trail drops you into the gulch just below Jacob Hamblin Arch. It's very steep, but gets you into the gulch much quicker than from the Red Well or Hurricane trailheads. I have done it both ways. Our goal was to get to Stevens Canyon which begins at the end of Coyote Gulch. We came out the same way.

Good tonality and composition, congrats.

First look, meh. Second look (after seeing Nancy's comments) I noticed the background is interesting. The 'tonality' as she puts it is nice. Perhaps it's something to do with the bush a little overbearing that gave me the first impression? I can't place it.

I'm like Maddog in that, at first glance, I wasn't captured, but after a few moments I realized how much I was enjoying all the angles and details and tones as I made my way from foreground to background and back again. I think a title like "Broken" might work.
I can't imagine all the amazing photo ops in this location from what I've seen from you, Chuck, and others over the years. It's on my bucket list! Thanks for sharing!
