Title: Road to the Mountains
Post by: maddogmurph on May 05, 2015, 03:50:06 pm
Camping out near Bodie you get to see the desert foothills turn into the high Sierras, this is an old mining road built perhaps somewhere in the late 1800's or early 1900's to pull gold out of the ground in this desolate land.

For once I prefer the color version. It really captures the magical look of mountains rising out of plains.

Well that's an IR rendering, in all fairness, here's your traditional BW with a high contrast red filter for comparison.

That works better for me. The mountains need to be prominent.

That's much better. I still prefer colour, though.

I prefer the infrared shot.  Bright foreground, which happens to include a road, leading into a darker background is mysterious and suggests something deceptive or hidden.  Even ominous.
