I've never used any of the MacPhun apps… Providing them with an e-mail address gives you access to a preview version.

I'll give it a try. I've been using Tonality Pro (B/W Conversions) and I like it a lot. It has pre-sets like most and gives you lots of control to tweak the presets or to do it all yourself.

From the rather small sample before/after slider demo I'm having to assume that app is best used on small sensor/high ISO cell phone shots, not high rez & ISO APS-C sensor cameras like DSLR's.

Even my 2006 6MP Pentax K100D doesn't have that big a grain noise at ISO 800.

The Youtube video review suggest that it is pretty aggressive and so it is easy to get the typical plasticky look that gives noise reduction a bad name.

It is not mandatory to use the default settings, you can fine tune the adjustments to your needs and taste.
