Most likely, Yes.

However, this may also be the first step (e.g. after one year of upgrading systems to 10) to an OS on a monthly subscription fee based scheme.

There's not even a hint or sniff of them going for subscription OS - more the other way (away from Apple's paid upgrades). Certainly 11 (or whatever it ends up being called) will be charged, but it looks like a very good model for 10 and one designed to get people using it across as many devices as possible.

Not sure what you are talking about there. Apple OS has been free for a long, long time and still is.
The last OS I paid for was 10.6 (a whole $39)
10.7, 8,9 and now 10 were all free, as has been the iOS upgrades.
An unlimited user server licence is $20.
BTW, they are all full versions too. ;D

Hi,

Do you expect anyone else than the developers to know the answer? Adobe and Microsoft will be testing before release.

And even then, it's common to have bug fixes to be released that address specific hardware combinations that cause trouble. Impossible to predict all consequences, but they'll most likely try to make it work for most people, right at the introduction date.

There's very rarely been any terrible issues with Windows upgrades in the past and maintaining legacy compatibility has always been a strong point. It's quite astonishing how many really old programs will still work on W7 64.

The only trip up is 64bit driver support for old hardware.
