Looks like I need to recalibrate my screens.
The XL30 comes with an i1, but the driver works only under 32bit. It shows up under the UBS, but when I launch the NatrualColorExpertv2 sw, it says the Device is not compatible.
Samsung I think sold the "setup" to HP as the Dreamcolor series, but they made a differnt screen with the LED tech. Well the problem is I have a great monitor with a 10bit LUT, that I can't access. I can use another spectro and calibrate the software, BUT the XL30 has ZERO adjustments when using in any of the Modes:Calibrated, sRGB, Adobe RGB, Emulation...As the i1 is supposed to directly tune the LUT on the monitor, not the Videocard.
I thought Virtual Machine would come to the rescue, but no dice! Suggestions anyone?

have you tried downloading a 64bit version of Xrite software and slip in the driver to the Samsung application?

That didn't work.
I tried the iMatch install. It didn't work with NCExpertv2.
I downloaded NaturalColorExpert v3 as well....no dice.

Years ago, I had a XL20. ColorEyes Display Pro at that time had a module to hardware calibrate it. Since those monitors have been long since discontinued, I don't know if they still support it. You might try a demo or ask Integrated Color.

I will try Xrite and IC. I have a hunch that Int Color will tell me to get a new screen :-) but who knows, I have not worked with them, so they maybe helpful. They look like they only sell Eizo's, so we'll see.

but NCE is now at v4... why did you try v3 ?

I don't see it in my searches.
They discontinued it at v2 in the US.
Do you have a download link perhaps?

i1 says only thier sw will allow for LUT calibration.
The NCE installs/runs on Win7x64, but it say Monitor is not compatible with NCE (v3)

well, that might be a different story - they decided to drop XL support in later releases... that's backstabbing on their part.

I'm rather familiar with google and I do make a good chunk of effort before I post any questions here. Come now :-)
The NCE v3 is even hard to find, let alone any reference to v4.
I would like to try V4, as I think it might work with a i1Display Pro. The i1Display2 I have is not compatible.
Samsung is still supporting the screen, just not the operation with the i1 under x64bit

it is easy, you google, you see that it is mentioned along with some Samsung display models in the search results, you copy that model name, go to any Samsung site, enter the model, go to support link for that monitor and from there there is a link to download v4

Its surprising that the Samsung support of 40 minutes who I spent time with on the phone had no clue there was a v4. She even helped me find v3.0!!

i1 hinted me towards trying HP Dreamcolor.
I downloaded the software and it recognizes the monitor as a SyncMaster. But the i1Display2 doesn't get recognized, as it asks for HP Dreamcolor Colorimeter...Please connect. I tried to connect both the i1 and Spyder3E.
Another way I can do it is to laod XP calibrate it and then Load Win7, but I think they use different gamma. Besides, that is a major task to do.

V4 just says the same..."Monitor is not compatible with NCE"
When I launch NCE it says the same, but if I have the spectro unplugged it doesn't say not compatible. It says Device not found. Plug in device and restart.
Its unbelievable that I cannot use this screen. It really burns.
So i1 says Only a Samsung software will allow calibrating the hardware monitor.

Try a ColorEyes Display Pro trial (I see it's mentioned above). The software connects to the monitor through DDC/CI if the monitor supports it - it's just that manufacturers often have their own variation of the protocol, so it may or may not work (and often doesn't). But it's definitely worth a shot.
CEDP should load its own sensor drivers and a 64 bit driver for the i1 should not be a problem there. If you can get DDC to work ColorEyes is an excellent calibrator that should provide all you need and is worth the modest price. It allows black point adjustment (important) and IIRC you can also fine tune white point on both axes (blue-yellow and green-magenta).

When calibrating it shows the LUT of the video, yet the monitor is blank. I'm guessing it doesn't read it.

I did also install the HP Dreamcolor, and it asks for a compatible device to calibrate with. The i1 Samsung ships with the monitor doesn't work, nor does the Spyder. I think it has to be the specific device?

Well, the HP-branded i1 Display Pro is $320...ouch! Maybe you could call HP and ask if a standard i1 DP would work. As I recall, the XL30 differed from the XL20 and 24 in that you could plug the colorimeter directly into the monitor and not need software. This is how the Dreamcolor 27" works. Are you plugging directly into the monitor or the computer using the software? HP specifically states that the software won't work on the 27" Dreamcolor...only on the smaller ones.
My XL20 malfunctioned at the end with the calibrate light staying on. It wouldn't accept NCE 2.0 even though the software worked at that time and OS level. I stopped usinmg it at that time, because it also began showing red-green banding across the screen. Not a big deal for me: I got it on closeout at B&H for $300. I would have been upset had I payed full boat, as you undoubtedly are.

I tried plugging into the side ports, and the 2 next to the DVi... it doesn't recognize it. There is a USB "squarish" /B connection. This is where I think I have to plug a USB device cable to get the USB ports to work as a simple hub.
Dreamcolor may have a direct plugin to the LUT?, But I don't think the XL24 or Xl30 do.
Maybe I can borrow or rent a Dreamcolor calibrator just to rule it out. What a shame/sham Samsung has left us high and dry over a licensing issue. The software wants to work, but its blocked.
If I could break the sw I would. But I think I have to have the same system with same card running the same video card to calibrate it on the 32bit system then swap it over to the 64bit!?? Or somehow unlock the LUT on the monitor itself?

You could run x32 in a VM to do the NCE calibration. Then copy the profile over to the x64. A pain, but should work.

Thats what I thought...But I have VM WinXPx32 installed on the Win7x64, ..
After I select Attach for the EyeOne/USB, It says the monitor is not compatible with NCE. For further info visit samsung.com
But its the only time the NCE stays open with all the screens I can select options. I just can't select Start as it is grayed out.
