Title: Starling Murmurations
Post by: Chris Kern on November 06, 2014, 07:56:55 pm
This link was forwarded to me and I couldn't resist passing it on: http://tinyurl.com/mhx8mto.

Yet another reason why I must finally visit Scotland on my next trip to the U.K.  (Scotland is still in the U.K., right?)

Wow. I've seen a couple of short videos of starlings in flight, but in a way these are more powerful. Thanks for sharing!

Mike.

You can see those, just about the time of dusk, particularly in autumn when driving up the M74 just as you cross from England into Scotland. I have never found a plausible explanation as to why that particular area produces such spectacular murmurations of starlings - but it has been a regular feature for many years.

I should get out onto the Someret Levels with my camera - we get fantastic displays of Starling murmurations

Starlings in Rome are a little less poetic.

(One of the headlines says: "It rains shit")

P.S. Perhaps  in these times italians are in a less poetic mood
