Very conceptual. I assume that is a composite?

Nope...  Single Shot using Sony A7R, Zeiss 21mm, and LR5.
The power plant in the background is the Page AZ power plant.  (http://epaabuse.com/4365/news/arizona-power-station-may-close-–-thanks-to-the-epa/)

+1, too. I particularly find Slobodan's query about it being a composite quite telling.

I often think my own wilderness landscape photography glorifying the beauty of nature is wasted when shots like this come along exposing the what we are doing to the diminishing wilderness we have. I expect photographs like this have a far greater impact on people's willingness to protect nature than even a hundred or a thousand "pretty scenes" like the ones I tend to make.

Well seen and captured!

An exceptional image. You should be very pleased with it. Did you know about the location or did you stumble on it? :)

Found it by accident, but I was there to photograph the slot canyons.

… because ?

...the two features of the photo - the natural slot canyon and the human pore plant - seem so incongruous that he thought it was a composite. Or, Slobodan was just playing with us. At first, I also wondered if the photo was a well-crafted composite, the juxtaposition of the two features being so surprising to me.

Not playing. Just could not believe there are sights like that. And it is not a disbelief aimed at the photographer, but at those who planted the plant there (pardon the pun).

Very nice image. A good example for discussion about what is "nature" and "natural". Humankind is part of "nature", so the "hand of Man", even chimney stacks, is "natural"?

We often turn away our cameras from such "industrial" motifs that litter our landscapes, but they can generate very effective and creative images.

Here in Portugal we have an abundance of wind turbines littering our mountains, for example.

Sometimes accidents are the best photographs.  That A7R is impressive.
