Thanks for the link, a very interesting read. I was flabbergasted by the amount of skills shown and inventive techniques to overcome ad-hoc problems used by some of the kids in the below 10 years (!!) and 10-14 year old categories, amazing.

The lovely picture of the lounging lions: Is it just me, or is the horizon non-horizontal? Would it have been too much to straighten it out just a few degrees? ???

The horizon line also bothers me. However, if you tilt it to straighten the horizon, you just about lose the feet of the lioness in the foreground, which kind of messes up the composition.  It's a toss-up.

I believe you are correct: water drains into oceans and lakes.

Does the photograph look across a lake or a plain?

It seems to look out across a waterhole to a plain.
