California doesn't have the "Grand Vista's" of Utah and Colorado but we have some areas of fall color and this year the colors are pretty good.
-
Seriously?? Does California paint the roads blue?? ..or did you maybe, possibly tweek the colors a tad bit too much. ::)

Clarity slider in LR tends to boost blues more than other colors. Also, many are not using UV filters anymore, thus shades tend to come out as bluish. I remember that even when shooting slides I would remove the UV filter in order to accentuate the blue-orange difference.

Yes, all of the the roads in California are blue! (Kidding of course). Thanks for pointing that out. I will take care of that issue. :)

Glad to see you can take a gentle ribbing!! ;D ;D

Additionally, the strong yellows of the trees can fools the camera with regards to the white balance of the scene, shifting it to the cool side.

No more Fall colors for me! (Kidding again). But seriously, the Fall colors in the Eastern Sierra this year were fantastic considering our drought conditions. :)

Aloha,
Seriously?? Are all the moons over the canyons pale blurry disks , devoid of detail?
The slight blue cast to the road is perfect!
Blue is much better than gray, although there is nothing wrong with gray,
Later at night ,everything will be black!
If you shot then, somebody would say
Are all the roads in California black? Funny I thought they were paved in gold...
As an artist, keep your vision true to what you feel in your heart,
If blue upsets somebody, too bad. Don't think consciously, about what you do to much, or you will be pushed and pulled by forces that go against your own ascetics.
Somebody once said- there are no rules to good photographs, there are just good photographs.

Digital Gray Card (http://store.rmimaging.com/digitalgraycard-100.aspx) :-)
In the second image it appears that the image was taken in the middle of the road. By the time the card is whipped out and used then the photographer will be flattened and the road will be coloured red and blue. ;)

Nice shots, blue and all...

Sorry... forgot to mention that I really do like your images.
Reminds me of the colors up in New Hampshire in the White Mountain National Forest.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Your input is greatly appreciated. :)

Nice.....it looks like you were at Conway Summit for the 1st shot. I was just there also shooting on Tuesday & Wednesday. Magnificent colors in the area.

Yep! That is Conway Summit where this years colors were the best I've seen in years! :) Here is another image from just up the road from the first.

Really?!?! I can't believe someone could actually say this on this forum and get away with it. What did Ansel shoot for all those years - painted backdrops?

If you look at the the subject line you would know I was talking about "Grand Vista's" of Fall "Colors". You may not know this but Ansel shot mostly B&W. I know Ansel's work quite well photographing many of the same places he did throughout the Sierra Nevada range. :)

Where else (http://content.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1932762_1974608,00.html) did Ansel Adams photograph?

Hence my astonishment at your first comment. ;) It wan't meant as a criticism, only as an observation.
(I'll ignore the condescending comment about Ansel and B&W - the two are synonymous. And yes, he shot fall colours even it was in B&W.)

Fair enough. :)

"Road" does seem to make a pretty nice BW/IR image with a little bit of work.

With all of the color in the original image there does seem to be a host of options for processing. Nice image at any rate.

Up toward Mt. Shasta, you will really get thrown for a loop on pavement color…they use the red lava for their asphalt and the roads are neither black nor blue but red!
Near where I live in the Mother Lode, they use greenstone for the pavement. The roads here tend to be GREEN!
It's a technicolor highway out there! :-)

In many parts of Ontario, especially in Northern Ontario, the roads are made from "pink" granite and have a definite red hue.
One needs to be careful with colour corrections.
