But I wonder if this kind of shot would have benefited from some selective focus, if possible, to make the "guitar" stand out from the background. Color masking with a Gaussian blur of 3 px (not at all carefully done and not subtle). Just a thought.

I see that you shot with a 24-105, which I suspect was wide open, so you couldn't have done the job with the lens. But David's Gaussian blur might do it.
