Title: Drake on golden pond
Post by: ned on June 30, 2014, 09:53:27 pm
There's a spot that, when the sun is right illuminates the reeds in a golden light.

Fantastic light and capture of the bird in flight. To me, the only nit I have is the bright longitudinal "white band" in the bottom, which I find distracting, but that is just me (I take it is a bright area of water reflection).

Yes, the light is a fantastic background for this flying bird… I've noticed the light "band" but I'm not sure that it has a detrimental effect. I have to spend more time with this image!
Bravo

Sharp, dynamic bird, great contrasting background. I think the bright spot at the bottom sets the bird over a pond.

Thanks for the kind words. The band is actually the blue water of the pond. I felt that the blue pond was balanced with the vegetation above it. The bird with a sort of head down posture looks to be trying to split the gap.

Cheers
