Title: Photoshop CC 2014 and ACR Version

I have Photoshop CC 2014, Photoshop CC/LR, and perpetual Photoshop CS6 and 5.5 on Win7 64-bit. Photoshop CC 2014 and CC are running ACR 8.3, whereas Photoshop CS6 is running ACR 8.5. When I open an image from LR in Photoshop CC 2014, I get a message that I should update ACR to 8.5 via Photoshop update tool. However, when I check for updates in Photoshop CC 2014, Adobe says my updates are up to date. So, how do I update ACR to 8.5 in PS CC 2014?

1) use direct download = swupdl.adobe.com/updates/oobe/aam20/win/PhotoshopCameraRaw8-8.0/8.5.50/setup.zip

2) if that does not work - extract x32 and x64 versions of ACR binaries from it ( from the following achives = \payloads\AdobeCameraRaw8.0All-x64-050614143245\Assets1_1.zip, \payloads\AdobeCameraRaw8.0All-050614141453\Assets1_1.zip) and directly replace (w/ renaming) relevant .8bi files on your machine

3) and just in case to make sure that everything is in order follow up w/ DNG converter v8.5 installation to update camera profiles = http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5794

1. When I try to run the associated AdobePatchInstaller.exe, I get a message "Update Failed"; "This patch is not applicable for you. . ."

2. When I look, for example, in the downloaded folder AdobeCameraRaw8.0All-x64-050614143245 > Assets1.zip, I only see one file "1002" with no extension. Is this the binary? If so, I'm not sure what I am supposed to do with it. It is not an executable and Win7 wants to know what I want to open it with. When I search for 1002 in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014, I see no such file, so I do not understand your replacement comment. Pardon me for perhaps being thick, but I do not understand.

3. I did not yet try your step 3.

yes, backup your existing .8bi file ("Camera Raw.8bi"), rename the file extracted from downloaded distrubution ("1002" -> "Camera Raw.8bi") and replace old .8bi with that

that just to make sure that you have the new camera profiles installed, it does not install ACR itself
