Title: Panasonic G3 manual focus

In manual focus mode the viewfinder automatically pops up a window showing a magnified portion of the scene. Can this be turned off? I'd rather focus without it.

I don't know  how much the G3 menu varies from the G2, but on the G2, the item for MF assist on/off is on the  custom menu, page 3.  Hope this helps.

This is a bit late, but the Panasonic G6 is something of a sleeper, though it does surprisingly decent HD video, and has focus peaking. So improved manual focusing with 4/3 and other lenses.

In the G7 you can enable it in the menu but it doesn't pop up automatically. A press of the rocker switch activates it.
